Last down day in Xela. We went to see our little plot of land and take the backroads to Cantel. This video is of the backroads. The ruts are pretty deep – about 18” deep.
It’s a beautiful country. Land of Eternal Spring.

A nice day @ Fuentes Georinas. A hot springs from a vent in Volcán Zunil.
Visited Volcán Siete Orejas today. An old volcano that blew many many years ago and left the rim a mile or more wide at 10,500ft
We saw Volcán Santiaguito erupt on our way up

Making our way south, exploring as we go…

Mi Pizota!!!

Some time off from driving in Mazatlán

Today we crossed over to Mexico through Tecate. I must say, every Mexican official we dealt with was super nice, polite and efficient. Unlike their northern counterparts.
We planned on stopping in Puerto Peñasco for two days but due to two accommodation snafus and the high season, we couldn’t find lodging. We headed on to Caborca where as Sherpa Overland pointed out, I chose the Hotel El Camino – I didn’t even pay attention to the name until he mentioned it.
It ended up being a longer that planned day but that makes tomorrow a short day and we get an extra day somewhere.
Ani took a bunch of pics, some of which I am attaching here.

The Camino continues – now we are tourists in Combarro – a little fishing village of old.
